New Horizons
The New Horizons mission will help us understand worlds at the edge of the solar system by making the first reconnaissance of Pluto and its moons and venturing deeper into the distant, mysterious Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune’s orbit. The fastest spacecraft ever launched, New Horizons will fly through the Pluto system in summer 2015, poised to provide an unprecedented view of the “last planet” and tell an incredible story about the origins and outer frontier of our planetary system. New Horizons also will explore – for the first time – how ice dwarf planets like Pluto and other Kuiper Belt bodies have evolved over time.
